Tidal Joins The Trend, Increasing Pricing For HiFi Tier Starting August 1st

Tidal, the popular music streaming service, has announced that it will be raising the pricing of its HiFi tier by one dollar, from $9.99 to $10.99 per month, starting on August 1st. The news comes as Tidal follows the footsteps of other streaming platforms, including Apple Music and Amazon Music, which have also implemented price increases in recent months. Subscribers from various countries, such as the US, Argentina, Germany, Mexico, Spain, and the UK, have reported receiving emails notifying them of the upcoming change.

In an email sent to Tidal subscribers, the company stated, “The price of our HiFi subscription tier will increase on August 1, 2023, to $10.99. We wanted to remind you that your HiFi subscription will automatically renew at the new monthly price of $10.99 on your first billing date on or after August 1st… unless you cancel by then.” Despite the increase, the price remains competitive in the market, aligning with recent price adjustments made by Apple Music and Amazon Music Unlimited.

Notably, Spotify, another major player in the streaming industry, may also be considering a similar move. During the company’s latest quarterly earnings conference call, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek hinted at a potential price increase, mentioning the upcoming introduction of a “Supremium” offering that includes long-awaited lossless streaming. This indicates a broader trend within the industry, as streaming services explore various strategies to adapt to changing market conditions and sustain their offerings.

The music streaming landscape continues to evolve, with platforms adjusting their subscription prices to account for factors such as rising operational costs and the introduction of new features. As Tidal prepares to implement its pricing adjustment, subscribers can expect a minor increase in the cost of the HiFi tier while maintaining access to Tidal’s extensive music catalog and high-quality audio streaming.
